Here we will know how to take configuration backup through Winbox GUI.

1. First open Winbox App and connect your Mikrotik Router.
2. Then Click on Files and click on the Backup.
3. When opening the backup window, then type a file name, Password, and encryption type (aes-sha256 or rc4).
4. If you want then you can take the Backup file without Encryption and Password. Just need Filename and Select Don't Encrypt.

Mikrotik export configuration to a text file:

Here we will know how to take configuration backup through Winbox CLI in Terminal. Another thing is that through this command we Mikrotik configuration can be exported to a text file. The backup file created by this command will be in the router's file system as plain text.

1. First open Winbox App and connect your Mikrotik Router.
2. Then open New Terminal Window.
3. When the Terminal window will open then type export file=technicalafnan. You can give any name to the file name. Then Click Enter from your keyboard.

How to Restore Mikrotik Router's Configuration:

To restore the configuration of the Mikrotik Router, you need to upload the previous backup file to Mikrotik Files.


Restore configuration through Winbox GUI:

Here we will know how to take restore configuration through Winbox GUI.

1. First open Winbox App and connect your MikroTik Router.
2. Then Click on Files and click on the Upload.
3. Then upload the backup file or drag the file from the PC and bring it to the Mikorik router's Files Window and release it.
4. Then Select the backup file and click Restore.
5. Then your Mikrotik Router will ask for permission to reboot. After granting permission, the router will be restored.

1. First open Winbox App and connect your Mikrotik Router.
2. Then Click the Files and click on the Upload.
3. Then upload the backup file or drag the file from the Desktop and bring it to the Mikorik router's Files Window and release it.
4. Then open New Terminal Window.
5. When the Terminal window will opened then type import file=technicalafnan.rsc.Then Click Enter from your keyboard.
