How to Increase Your WiFi Range - WiFi Range Extend

In today's article, we will know how to increase your Wi-Fi Range. We who are WiFi Broadband Users have to constantly face a big problem, and that is Range is not available properly.

For example, let's say that our house has 4 rooms. Our router is set up in the very corner of the first room. Then, if I go to the last room, i.e. room number 4, I get a very low range.

Many people think that the Wi-Fi Range is reduced or increased by the ISP, it is a big misconception. ISP provides us with cable connectivity or a physical path. Through which we can surf the internet. So today we will see among those of us who have a low WiFi range of the router, how to increase it. Let's get started.

How do I fix low WiFi range?

Always try to get a good quality router to get a high range of the router. Then set up the router in a central location. Move the router to the floor to increase the range of your router. Because walls, floors, and objects weaken your router's range.

Another thing is that the wireless technology of most routers is 802.11g (Wireless-G) which operates at 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency. Many other electronic devices such as telephones, microwaves, baby monitors, and garage door openers also use the same frequency. So keep your router distance from them.

How can I increase my WiFi range to 100 meters?

To keep your Wi-Fi range within 100 meters, you need to use a repeater. Or you can use any router but that router must be configured in Range Extender operation mode. If you add a repeater or router, you will get a smooth full WiFi range of 100 meters. If you want to get a very good WiFi range of up to 200 meters, you will need a router or repeater that can extend the range a little more.

Why is the Wi-Fi range so low?

There are many reasons for WiFi Range Slow which I have discussed above. Still, I mention here that the wireless technology of most routers is 802.11g (Wireless-G) which operates at 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency. Many other electronic devices such as telephones, microwaves, baby monitors, and garage door openers also use the same frequency.

if you want you can buy cordless telephones and other devices that use the 5.8 GHz or 900 megahertz (MHz) frequencies. Because 802.11n (wireless-N) operates at both 2.4 GHz and the less frequently used 5.0 GHz frequency, Many high-end GHz devices can cause interference on low-end networks.

Wi-Fi Range Extender Configuration:

Today we will see step by step how to increase the WiFi Range of my router by configuring several routers in repeater mode. I chose TP-Link (TL-Wr840N) model router as a range extender.

You can take any router or repeater. With the help of this router, I will increase the Wi-Fi range of my main router. So let's get started.

Step-1

If you look at the picture below, you will understand that there is an SSID called RX, which will increase the Wi-Fi range.

In the first step, connect the device with which you will extend the range of the main router to your PC or Phone. So I connected my router to the PC with an Ethernet LAN Cable. Then hit the device's Default IP., to enter the Router Page Panel. Then log in to the router page panel. Default information on TP-Link is given below.

TP-Link Router's Default IP Address:

IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Username: admin
Password: admin

Step-2

After logging in to the router page panel, click on the Quick Setup option in the 2nd step and click Next. Configuration can be completed in any mode of the router through Quick Setup.

Step-3

In step number 3 you have to select the operation mode of the router. Since I will use the router as a repeater, select the operation mode of the router as Range Extender and click on Next.

Step-4

After giving the next, all the SSIDs that come next to it will continue to show in this step 4. Select your main router and click on Connect. My Wi-Fi Router SSID name is RX. So I clicked on RX's connect button. Another thing is to remember that the signal strength of your main router should be within 50.

Step-5

The Wireless Password of the router that you will extend the range of in Step 5 number should be given here. Enter the password and click on Next.

Step-6

Finally, step 6 will give you the option to review again, to double-check that all configurations are correct. If it's OK, click on Finish. If your configuration is correct then your router will reboot once then the range will increase.

Conclusion:

Today we learned how to easily increase the wireless range of those of us who have a low wireless range of Wi-Fi routers with another device. Hope everyone understands. If anyone doesn't understand then comment.
